ARTICLES ABOUT BILL METZO, ACTING COACH

Read from the Backstage article, Acting Pros Train Robert Cuccioli (star of Jekyll and Hyde):

These days, “for auditions or when I start new projects or stuff like that, I coach regularly with William Metzo. He directs me on things. I do it as a matter of course,” Cuccioli reports, “but I always work on the role myself first–try to discover as much as I can within myself, come up with as many questions as I can. Then I go to [Bill Metzo] and ask, “What am I missing? What am I doing that’s kind of off-track? Am I too general? Is there more specificity I can bring to my work?” I think it’s important to have a third eye.”

Cuccioli began working with Metzo in 1989. The actor was singing and dancing in “Rhythm Ranch” at New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse at the time, but he wanted to start studying Shakespeare. Someone recommended Metzo, and the Shakespeare coaching sessions that resulted have led to work “on all sorts of things.”

“One thing that’s good with Bill, ” says Cuccioli, “is that we barely have to speak to each other. He knows I know his language. It’s very important to know how each one works and what their good and bad points are. That comes with time, I think. Fortunately I hit it off very quickly with Bill We had a good relationship right off the bat. Language and communication are very important.
